shopping year round

One way that I am able to get the most for my money as far as buying gifts goes is shopping year round.
With all of the seasonal clearance sales you can find some real bargains!

I have always loved shopping, especially the day after Christmas.I always make sure I buy the paper Christmas Day so I have my plan of attack about which stores to go to ready to put into action!  I must admit that unless it's a must have item, I have been known to hold out and wait for further markdowns. Sometimes this strategy works and sometimes I will give in and buy that one of a kind item, especially if there is only a small quantity left. While it may not be marked down as much as I would like it to be , I still get the coveted item for a discounted price.

Alot of stores will mark down Christmas items such as ornaments, wrapping paper, candies and more 75-90% off starting mid January to the end  of Janury to clear up on these items and make room for the next Holiday. Happy Shopping!

Saving money on gifts

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This is my first entry. I plan to update at least once a week so please check back often!

With Christmas fast approaching and the economy being the way it is , alot of people are taking a hit in the wallet again this year. Thrift stores are a great source for inexpensive gifts.
Many times you can find new items for a fraction of the cost you would pay at retail stores.
A nice idea for teachers and others are decorative mugs. These can be filled with teas, gourmet coffee packets, or hot chocolate , then wrapped in cellophane wrap.
Cookie jars or decorative containers with Winter or  Christmas scenes and  snowmen can be filled with candies.
Candies can be purchased inexpensively after Halloween and generally have long expiration dates.
The nice thing about Halloween wrapped candies is that they come in a wide array of colors, mostly Gold, Red and green colors which will work perfectly for Christmas.

Scented candles in cinnamon, pine, cranberry, cookie and other scents are nice too.
A couple of years ago I was able to purchase a new in the box Yankee Candle gift set with a tart burner, votive holders, candles in Holiday scents and votives for just $5.00! The price sticker was still on the box, $20.00!
Many thrift stores have specials on certain days of the week. Savers for example has .99 tags that are color coordinated and 50% off. Happy hunting!
