Saving money on gifts

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This is my first entry. I plan to update at least once a week so please check back often!

With Christmas fast approaching and the economy being the way it is , alot of people are taking a hit in the wallet again this year. Thrift stores are a great source for inexpensive gifts.
Many times you can find new items for a fraction of the cost you would pay at retail stores.
A nice idea for teachers and others are decorative mugs. These can be filled with teas, gourmet coffee packets, or hot chocolate , then wrapped in cellophane wrap.
Cookie jars or decorative containers with Winter or  Christmas scenes and  snowmen can be filled with candies.
Candies can be purchased inexpensively after Halloween and generally have long expiration dates.
The nice thing about Halloween wrapped candies is that they come in a wide array of colors, mostly Gold, Red and green colors which will work perfectly for Christmas.

Scented candles in cinnamon, pine, cranberry, cookie and other scents are nice too.
A couple of years ago I was able to purchase a new in the box Yankee Candle gift set with a tart burner, votive holders, candles in Holiday scents and votives for just $5.00! The price sticker was still on the box, $20.00!
Many thrift stores have specials on certain days of the week. Savers for example has .99 tags that are color coordinated and 50% off. Happy hunting!
